Beyond the Workshop: How Professional Learning Can Actually Stick
Professional development days come and go—but the impact of those sessions should last long after the slide deck closes.
One of the biggest challenges I hear from educators is that workshops often feel like isolated events: inspiring in the moment but hard to implement after the fact. That’s why I design learning sessions that are active, practical, and intentionally scaffolded for next steps.
When I lead PD, I focus on four essentials:
Relatable context: grounding our work in your specific school goals.
Low-floor, high-ceiling tasks: so every educator can see themselves and their students in the learning.
Modeling best practices: not just telling you how to teach math—but showing you in real time.
Follow-up tools: printable resources, visuals, and coaching cycles that support implementation.
My goal? That you walk out of the room saying, “I can use that tomorrow.”
